Job summary

The State of Minnesota is seeking a Legislative Liaison for the Commerce Department to advance government relations with the legislature, officials, and stakeholders. This seven-month temporary unclassified position requires strong policy analysis and clear communication.

Hybrid work is available with up to 50% telework; duties include developing talking points, representing the department at hearings, and coordinating with staff to advance policy and budget priorities.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience advising leadership on proposed legislation, policies, and programs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Understanding of state government structure and legislative process.
• Experience conducting policy analysis.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance on government affairs and legislative planning to align with departmental priorities.
• Represent Commerce at committee hearings and interact with staff across the department.
• Support development of talking points and communications for legislative initiatives.
