Job description

We seek to appoint three outstanding and ambitious scientists to senior lectureship / reader positions based within the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology (MIB) at the University of Manchester (UoM).

About the Role

The successful candidates will join a dynamic research environment with state-of-the-art facilities to develop their research groups and expand collaborations. Responsibilities include high-quality research and teaching. We welcome applications from across the broad engineering biology and biotechnology landscape. Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to :

  • Natural product biosynthesis and enzyme discovery
  • Structural biology and mechanistic enzymology

The MIB is a flagship UoM Research Institute that has significantly contributed to engineering biology and biotechnology research globally. Our research encompasses fundamental bioscience discoveries, technology development, and real-world applications. Facilities include automated robotics, NMR, laser and fast-reaction platforms, mass spectrometry, protein crystallography, high-throughput analysis, gene sequencing, computation, and small-scale fermentation, all supported by expert technical staff.
