About the role:
Reporting to the Director, Accounting & Financial Reporting, the Senior Lead, Technical Accounting and Financial Reporting is responsible for managing the preparation and distribution of financial statements, while ensuring that reports, filings, and documentation comply with the company’s regulations, professional standards, and reporting guidelines. This includes preparing monthly, quarterly and year-end close processes and reporting in accordance with IFRS, supporting internal and external audits, maintaining a strong internal controls environment, and preparation of financial results for the Executive Leadership Team (ELT). The Senior, Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting will also help support the development of short and long-term operational strategies.

In this role you will:
  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Preparation and timely submission of all financial reporting, including the consolidation process and preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statement packages (including income statement, balance sheet and cash flow)
  • Research, interpret, and implement new accounting standards issued by IFRS, and other regulatory bodies
  • Prepare technical accounting memos and documentation to support all accounting positions
  • Coordinate with external auditors to ensure a timely and efficient audit process
  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis
  • Provide support to the accounting team
  • Assist in developing and maintaining the Company’s IFRS accounting policies and guidance documents, ensuring practical implementation of, and compliance with, accounting policies across the organization
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial and local legal requirements by understanding existing and new legislation and filing financial reports
  • Responsible for coordinating climate related financial reporting requirement
Requirements:
  • Minimum five years experience in Finance or Accounting roles, with at least two years in a leadership role. Preference given to candidates with experience in large mining operations, public companies, complex manufacturing organizations or large size public practice accounting/advisory firms
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. CPA is required
  • Strong knowledge of accounting procedures and principles in accordance with IFRS
  • Experience with creating financial statements and financial reporting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, including advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with ERP environments such as SAP
  • Experience with multicurrency / USD functional currency accounting
