Job Description

Who You’ll Work With

We are seeking world-class Senior/Lead software engineers for our Extensible Operating System (EOS) team. As a key member, you'll contribute to building features for the world's largest data center networks using Arista's Linux-based network operating system.

The EOS team handles all aspects of software development for Arista switches, working closely with marketing, customer support, and system testing teams to deliver high-quality solutions. You will own projects from conception to deployment, ensuring the software meets customer needs and internal standards.

What You’ll Do

This role requires strong software engineering fundamentals and a good understanding of networking, including capabilities like L2, L3, and commercial switching hardware. Your responsibilities include:

• Writing specifications and designing features for internet and data center traffic forwarding.
• Implementing solutions in C, C++, and Python.
• Developing automated tests and fixing issues identified.
• Collaborating with teams to troubleshoot and resolve network problems.
• Mentoring junior engineers and reviewing team contributions.
• Managing project schedules and reporting progress.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with relevant experience.
• Proficiency in C, C++, and Python.
• Experience with UNIX/Linux systems.
• Knowledge of networking protocols and features such as IP routing, bridging, and network hardware.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in teams.

Additional Information

The base salary range for this role in Canada is $120,000 to $195,000, with additional bonuses and benefits. Compensation varies based on skills, experience, and location. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, wellbeing, income protection, and retirement plans.
