Job summary

Elk Valley Resources (EVR) is seeking a Senior Lead, Maintenance to strengthen maintenance performance, support frontline leadership, and drive continuous improvement across the operation. Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the successful candidate will lead with clear communication, build trusted relationships across teams, and apply a structured approach to planning and execution.

The role requires a degree or diploma with a trade certification and at least 5 years of supervisory

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in a relevant technical field with trade certification or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in maintenance environment.
  • Strong leadership with focus on people development and team performance.
  • Understanding of maintenance execution, planning, and scheduling.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced setting.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with operations and support teams.
  • Analytical and data-driven decision making; proficient with MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in health and safety programs and policies.
  • Maintain visible field presence to support safe work and reinforce expectations.
  • Drive reliability and performance through disciplined execution and defect elimination.
  • Manage maintenance project execution, ensuring planning quality and standards.
  • Support work management processes including planning readiness and scheduling alignment.
  • Lead prioritization of work, including emergent tasks, aligning with risk and production impact.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Planning, Scheduling, Supply Chain and Environmental teams.
  • Coordinate between maintenance areas and site departments.
  • Monitor performance and trends; use data to identify improvements and implement solutions.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety and efficiency.
  • Identify recurring equipment issues and support root cause investigations.
  • Provide recommendations for major outages, servicing, and long-term performance.
  • Mentor supervisors and support development and succession planning.
  • Foster a high-performing, accountable team environment.

In this role you will:
  • Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
  • Maintain a visible field presence to support safe, effective work execution and reinforce expectations with frontline crews
  • Drive improvements in equipment reliability, availability, and overall performance through disciplined execution and defect elimination
  • Manage maintenance project execution, ensuring planning quality and adherence to maintenance standards and best practices
  • Support effective work management processes, including planning readiness, scheduling alignment, and execution quality
  • Provide leadership in prioritizing work, including emergent (break-in) work, ensuring alignment with operational risk and production impact
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Planning, Scheduling, Supply Chain, and Environmental teams to ensure alignment on priorities and execution readiness
  • Act as a central coordination point between maintenance areas and site departments
  • Monitor maintenance performance and trends; use data and frontline feedback to identify improvement opportunities and implement sustainable solutions
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, reliability, and workflow efficiency
  • Identify recurring equipment issues and support root cause investigations and corrective actions
  • Provide recommendations for major equipment outages, servicing, and long-term equipment performance
  • Mentor and coach supervisors; support development planning, capability building, and succession readiness
  • Foster a high-performing, engaged team environment built on accountability, trust, and collaboration
  • Ensure compliance with site procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements
Requirements:
  • Degree or diploma in a relevant technical field, combined with a valid trade certification, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience, preferably in a mobile equipment maintenance environment
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with a strong focus on people development and team performance
  • Strong understanding of maintenance execution, planning, and scheduling practices
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, operational environment
  • Experience working cross-functionally with operations and support teams
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to leverage data for decision-making
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite®; experience with maintenance systems is an asset
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License or equivalent
Salary range : 123,000 - 152,000 CAD/ year

The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
