Role Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Real Estate Law Clerk or Legal Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will be organized, proactive, and capable of managing files independently from start to finish with minimal supervision. This role requires strong communication skills, proficiency in legal software, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced legal environment.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Conduct and review title and off-title searches; interpret results and draft requisitions.
  • Manage real estate and corporate files independently from opening to closing.
  • Review and analyze lease agreements (commercial and residential); identify key provisions and assist in drafting and negotiating terms.
  • Prepare trust ledgers, statements of adjustments, and final statements of account.
  • Order and review Title Insurance Policies.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, financial institutions, municipalities, real estate agents, and the Land Registry Office via phone, email, and other channels.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents for real estate closings.
  • Process files accurately and promptly using Unity, Teraview, and Cosmolex.
  • Report to institutions and clients in a timely manner.
  • Assist with general corporate matters, including minute book reviews, corporate maintenance, registrations, due diligence, and electronic filings.
  • Support corporate / commercial transactions, including incorporations, share / asset purchases, reorganizations, and related structuring.
  • Demonstrate initiative, multitasking ability, and strong time management.
  • Maintain high standards of written and verbal communication and client service.

Qualifications :

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Real Estate and Corporate Law in a law firm setting.
  • Completion of a related post-secondary and recognized Legal Assistant or Law Clerk program or other relevant education.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a professional and positive telephone manner.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and record-keeping abilities.
  • Proficient with legal software, including Unity, Teraview, and Microsoft Office.
  • Able to manage shifting priorities and perform well under pressure.
  • Works independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and proactive in handling administrative tasks.
  • Strong organizational and teamwork skills.
