Stantec Planning and Landscape Architecture Group in Ottawa is seeking an experienced Senior Landscape Architect to join our team and contribute on local and national projects with private and government clients.

We design parks, urban spaces, and complex development projects, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to move concepts from planning to reality. Fluency in French is an asset, and a flexible, hybrid in-office routine is offered.

Qualifications

• Full membership with the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects (OALA) or Association des architectes paysagistes du Québec (AAPQ).
• Minimum of 8 to 12 years of experience as a Landscape Architect.
• Degree in Landscape Architecture or similar relevant certification.

Responsibilities

• Conceptualize, design and document landscape architectural concepts and visions.
• Develop design following high-quality standards and details.
• Serve as technical design expert and communicate to resolve project challenges.
• Prepare design documents including reports, drawings and construction specifications.
• Coordinate with project team members and clients throughout the project lifecycle.
• Lead client, stakeholder, and public presentations.
• Interface with contractors to implement the design.
• Conduct site investigations and construction inspections.
• Assist in preparing proposals and project descriptions.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and experts.
• French language skills are advantageous.

Your Opportunity

Stantec Planning and Landscape Architecture Group is seeking an experienced Senior Landscape Architect to join our Ottawa team and assist on projects. Our location in the National Capital Region provides many unique opportunities to work on projects of local and national significance for private and government clients.

We design urban parks and plazas, transportation corridors, waterfronts and mixed‑use developments that enhance our communities. Our experienced inter‑disciplinary team specializes in parks and open spaces, urban public spaces, multiuse pathways, roadway enhancements, commercial and residential developments, wetland creation, habitat enhancements, watercourse restoration, urban forestry, and low impact development. We connect the people, places, and resources that take a project from concept to reality.

Your Key Responsibilities

You will work with general supervision and direction on a variety of projects, ranging in size from urban in‑fill projects to subdivision plans and campus developments, as a team member of a larger project in collaboration with other professionals and experts.

You will establish general landscape requirements; conduct preliminary site studies and assess potential to meet client specifications. You will carry out environmental impact studies. As part of our team, you will collaborate with skilled professionals on projects ranging from initial planning to decommission.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Conceptualize, design, and document landscape architectural vision and intentions.
• Develop design following high-quality standards.
• Serve as technical design expert and communicate effectively to resolve project and design challenges.
• Assist the project teamand contribute to produce design documents including reports, drawings, and construction specifications for assigned projects.
• Maintain effective coordination with project team members and clients.
• Prepare and lead presentations to clients, stakeholders, and/or the public.
• Effectively communicate with contractors to implement the design.
• Conduct site investigations and construction inspections including pre-design investigations.
• Assist in the preparation of proposals and project descriptions.
• Collaborate with other disciplines and experts.
• French. Bilingualism is an advantage.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Applicants should have a full membership with theOntario Association of Landscape Architects (OALA)or Association des architectes paysagistes du Québec (AAPQ). Applicants should demonstrate aminimum of 8 to 12 yearsof experience as a Landscape Architect and have a degree in Landscape Architecture or similar relevant certification.

Typical office environment includes working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time.This position also requires some field work to local and regional project sites;field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.This position will have a flexible working arrangement combining working from home and weekly in office presence;working in the office only is also available.Stantec will provide you a computer to support your work and collaboration with the team of professionals both in the office and from home.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
