Stantec Consulting International Ltd. in Ottawa, Ontario, seeks a Senior Land Development Project Manager to oversee residential, commercial, industrial and institutional projects.

You will manage scope, budgets and design, lead multidisciplinary teams, and drive business development in Ottawa and surrounding areas. You will mentor engineers, liaise with clients and municipalities, and contribute technical direction across multiple concurrent projects.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering from a recognized university.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in consulting engineering and project management.
• Experience in land development and site servicing, grading, stormwater and erosion control.

Responsibilities

• Marketing efforts and business development pursuits, including lead development, proposal preparation, presentations, relationships and client management.
• Developing project scope, budgets, and design approach for all size projects.
• Project management, including control and management of the financial aspects of projects.
• Leading or independently preparing design drawings, analyses and reports for site servicing, grading and stormwater management.
• Contributing technical direction and review on multiple land development files and stamping drawings.
• Supervision and mentoring of project engineers, technologists and other staff.
• Liaising with clients, municipalities and approval agencies to obtain project approvals.
• Coordinating with other design disciplines and leading client meetings.
• Leading value analysis and basic cost estimating.
• Supporting tender preparation and field inspections with Construction Administration.
• Developing designs through sketches, models, diagrams and other visuals.
• Performing other duties as assigned.

Your Opportunity

Stantec’s Community Development team is growing in Ottawa, and we are leading an increasing amount number of exciting planning and development projects with multi-disciplinary and integrated service offerings. We are seeking a Senior Land Development Project Manager within our Community Development team based in our Ottawa office. As a Senior Land Development Project Manager, you will be responsible for the management and coordination of residential, commercial, industrial and institutional development projects varying in size and complexity, and you will be responsible for business development activities. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in land development, both technical and project management, and will work to grow the business and team in Ottawa and the surrounding area.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Undertaking marketing efforts, and business development pursuits, including lead development, proposal preparation, presentations, relationship and client management.
• Developing project scope, budgets, and design approach for all size projects.
• Project Management, including control and management of the financial aspects of your projects.
• Leading or independently preparing preliminary, functional and detailed design drawings, analysis and reports for site servicing, grading, stormwater management and erosion and sediment control for development projects.
• Contributing technical direction, design review and detailed design expertise on numerous simultaneous land development files and stamping final drawings
• Supervision and mentoring of project engineers, technologists and other staff.
• Liaising with clients, municipalities and approval agencies to assist in obtaining project approvals.
• Undertaking a variety of project coordination tasks, including liaising with a variety of other design disciplines.
• Leading client project meetings, value analysis, and basic cost estimating.
• Working with Construction Administration team to support tender preparation and undertake occasional field inspections.
• Engages in the development of a design through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
• Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

• Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications.
• Strong knowledge of civil systems means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
• Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of project document production.
• Ability to review the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
• Participates and collaborates in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
• Advanced understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others.
• Strong presentation skills.
• Effective communicator and able to work on and lead teams.
• Efficient project management of multiple concurrent projects.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Experience with Civil3D, GIS, BIM would be considered an asset.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and Experience

Pay Range:

Locations in Lower Mainland -- BC, GTA & Ottawa Ontario-$114,600.00 - $164,600.00 Annually

Pay Transparency:

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
