Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. is seeking a Project Manager for our Waterloo Community Development team. The role covers management of scope, budgets, and schedules for complex land development projects, while guiding engineers and technologists to deliver cohesive civil design solutions.

You will lead client engagements, coordinate multi-disciplinary deliverables, and contribute to pursuit activities and proposals. A track record in design delivery and mentorship is essential.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in a Civil Engineering Designation.
• Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Ontario is an asset.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in consulting project management and business development.
• Strong leadership and mentorship abilities.

Responsibilities

• Manage scope, budget, schedule and quality across large, multi-disciplinary projects from due diligence to post-construction.
• Lead teams of engineers and technologists with mentorship responsibilities.
• Oversee civil engineering deliverables: servicing, grading, drainage, and coordination.
• Lead project meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and agencies.
• Develop project specifications and construction documents; participate in constructability reviews.
• Support marketing, pursuits, proposals, and client relationship management.

Opportunity

Our Waterloo office is looking for a Project Manager to join our Community Development team. As a Project Manager, you will perform a variety of tasks including project management, business development and growing our team of engineers, technicians and other specialists. The Project Manager is expected to win and/or be assigned projects that have complex features that will require the application of mature knowledge and industry experience. This ideal candidate will be capable of leading all aspects of a project from the business development (pursuit stage) through conceptual design, detailed design, agency approvals and implementation. As Project Manager you will be responsible for to ensure appropriate project team structure, resource efficiency and financial accountability.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for managing scope, budget, schedule and quality of deliverables associated with multiple large, multi-disciplinary projects of high complexity from due diligence to post construction stages.

• Leads and develops a team of engineers and technologists, providing mentorship to other staff.

• Manages the design and delivery of civil engineering deliverables for land development projects, overseeing servicing, grading, drainage design, and multidisciplinary project coordination, ensuring cohesiveness and consistency between submission deliverables.

• Leads and provides mentorship through the development of a design using sketches, markups, and other visual formats for junior engineers/designers.

• Leads project meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, Clients, contractors, review/commenting agencies, subcontractors, and vendors.

• Leads the preparation and coordination of the project specifications and construction documents.

• Participates in constructability reviews.

• Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects and projects of peers.

• Assists in the development of new standards and specifications for the civil group.

• Develops project scope, budgets, and design approach for all size projects.

• Participates in and leads (when required) marketing efforts, and business development and strategic pursuits, including lead development, proposal preparation, presentations, relationship management and client surveys.

• Develops and maintains positive and professional relationships and visibility with current and prospective clients, sub-consultants, competitor/teaming partners, and potential recruits.

• Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of relevant land development guidelines and industry standards in/around Waterloo Region, County of Brant, Niagara Region, and Oxford County.

• Comprehensive knowledge of land development engineering, including subdivision and site plan approval processes, civil servicing, grading design, drainage design, and construction administration.

• Ability to lead one or more teams through all phases of project document production.

• Checks the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule.

• Participates and collaborates in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.

• Advanced understanding of civil engineering concepts and ability to communicate ideas to others. Strong presentation skills.

• Effective communicator and able to work on and lead teams.

• Efficient project management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of Civil 3D would be considered an asset.

Education and Experience

• Diploma or Degree in a Civil Engineering Designation.

• Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario is considered an asset for this position.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in consulting project management and business development is required.

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Pay Range

Locations Outside of Lower Mainland -- BC & Various locations in Ontario-$106,700.00 - $156,700.00 Annually

Pay Transparency

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
