Job summary

CPKC in Calgary, Alberta, seeks a Specialist Developer-Java to design, implement, and support Java APIs within the YMS landscape. You will collaborate across teams to deliver scalable, integrated solutions and drive digital transformation in a major North American rail network.

The role requires 6+ years of hands-on Java development with Spring, MVC/REST, and a focus on performance and reliability in enterprise environments.

Qualifications

University degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline.
Minimum 6 years of Java application development experience with Spring Framework.
Experience designing scalable MVC/RESTful/microservices architectures.
Strong SQL optimization and Linux server troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

Gather, refine, and document business requirements for APIs and enterprise apps.
Design, develop, test, and support APIs and system components across the SDLC.
Create technical docs, design specs, test plans, and deployment procedures.
Assist in configuration management, code and database administration, and on-call rotation.
Collaborate with teams to ensure reliable, performant solutions.
