The Global Fraud Technology team develops innovative products to address evolving threats. We collaborate closely with Fraud Business and Technology Partners across Scotiabank to deliver global technology solutions. As key members of Enterprise Technology, we ensure that business strategies, plans, and initiatives comply with regulations, policies, and procedures.

We are seeking an energetic, results-oriented Senior Cloud Developer to help build our most innovative Fraud Detection and Prevention products.

In this role, you will:

• Develop high-impact, modern microservices that enable quick realization of business value.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to research and design optimal solutions for various business requirements.
• Conduct testing of new software releases to ensure successful implementation without impacting existing systems.
• Ensure solutions are robust, scalable, and efficient to meet business needs.
• Provide production support as needed.
• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot, and resolve errors.
• Work within an Agile team to deliver core business and regulatory solutions.

Skills required for success:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering, Business, Information Sciences, or related field.
• 5+ years of Java development experience, including requirements analysis, cloud backend & frontend design, development, deployment, and cloud implementation.
• Knowledge of secure coding practices for banking and experience with security tools like BlackDuck, WebSense.
• Experience with Big Data Cloud Architecture, batch processing, real-time messaging, stream processing in hybrid cloud environments.
• Proficiency in data manipulation and ETL pipelines using Kafka, Python, and cloud platforms (Google Cloud, Azure, etc.), working with formats like JSON, AVRO, XML.
• Experience developing microservices with REST, Spring Boot, Docker.
• Familiarity with DevOps, deployment, and orchestration tools such as Bitbucket, Git, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Maven, TFS.
• Excellent communication skills.
• High tolerance for ambiguity, given the team’s experimentation with new technologies.
