Job summary

APPTAD, Inc. in Calgary invites a seasoned Java Developer to join our on-site team and deliver core initiatives.

You will design, develop, and maintain server-side applications using Java and Spring Boot, write clean code, and collaborate with front-end developers, architects, and product managers. You will design RESTful APIs, manage microservices, and optimize performance while ensuring security, data protection, and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in Java back-end development.
• Experience with RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• Strong SQL and NoSQL knowledge (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or GitHub Actions.
• Proficiency with version control systems (Git) and agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
• Experience with message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ) is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain server-side applications using Java and Spring/Spring Boot frameworks.
• Write clean, efficient, and testable code following best practices and design patterns.
• Collaborate with front-end developers, architects, and product managers to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Design and manage RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Participate in code reviews, mentoring junior developers, and contributing to continuous improvement.
• Develop unit and integration tests to ensure quality and maintainability.
• Integrate third-party APIs and external systems as required.
• Ensure application security, data protection, and compliance with industry standards.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and support DevOps practices for deployment and monitoring.
