Job description

  • Only qualified Senior IT Project Manager candidates currently located in the Edmonton, Alberta area will be considered due to the position requiring onsite presence.
  • Required Education

    • Candidate must meet or exceed one of the following:
    • University graduation in business, management, or related discipline, and four years of project management (PM) experience; OR
    • Two-year diploma in business, management, or related discipline and six years of PM experience; OR
    • One-year certificate in business, management, or related discipline and seven years of PM experience; OR
    • Eight years of PM experience.

    Required Skills and Experience:

    • Experience defining project scope and goals in collaboration with business stakeholders (8 years)
    • Experience developing project deliverables including project charters, business cases, briefing notes, status reports, risk logs, and project closures (8 years)
    • Experience managing custom application development projects with at least 5 team members (8 years)
    • Experience managing data and AI development, delivery, and support projects/teams with at least 5 team members (8 years)
    • Experience managing multiple projects concurrently (8 years)
    • Experience successfully implementing IT solutions in an environment with project resources from across multiple teams or organizations (8 years)
    • Experience working as a Project Manager on large complex custom software application development projects in an environment similar in size and complexity to the Government (8 years)

    Preferred Skills and Experience:

    • Experience conducting, facilitating, and interpreting impact and risk assessments across multiple scenarios (4 years)

    Our client seeks a Project Manager for designing and implementing various projects in the technology delivery space, focusing on Application Support, Data, and AI. The role involves developing practice around Application Support and delivering on commitments in these areas, including digital transformation and restructuring of the IT delivery organization.

    Job Duties:

    • Develop and manage all aspects of project and program engagement, including planning, vendor relationships, communication, resources, budget, change, risks, and issues, in collaboration with leadership and stakeholders.
    • Coordinate with stakeholders and schedule meetings.
    • Prepare briefing notes, meeting minutes, and other documents.
    • Prepare presentations for stakeholders, steering committees, and project groups.
    • Support team members in analyzing industry engagement surveys.
    • Manage tasks, follow up, and escalate as required.
    • Bridge communication between external stakeholders and internal teams.
    • Coordinate approvals and sign-offs.
    • Maintain engagement, meeting, and opportunity trackers.
    • Respond to stakeholder requests.
    • Complete documentation for decision-making processes.
    • Provide direction to cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery.
    • Track and monitor scope and timelines for data products.
    • Analyze and report on project progress, communicating status to stakeholders.
    • Oversee all aspects of technology projects, building effective operating environments.
    • Develop project charters, business, and project plans with clear objectives and outcomes.
    • Manage projects documenting business requirements, design, and delivery of IT solutions aligned with enterprise architecture.
    • Assist in developing recommendations considering resource needs, dependencies, policy implications, and methodologies.
    • Produce and present deliverables to support activities and stakeholder engagement.
    • Manage multiple tasks, resources, and governance structures.
    • Work with vendors to ensure effective communication and risk escalation.
    • Maintain client satisfaction and manage relationships to overcome hurdles.
    • Develop detailed project plans with clear objectives, scope, assumptions, timelines, resources, risks, benefits, and budgets.
    • Define roles and responsibilities within project organization structures.
    • Document and report project status, milestones, budgets, and resources.
    • Develop project schedules, estimate resources, and monitor work plans, adjusting as needed.
    • Guide project resources in prioritizing and delivering tasks.
    • Develop related requirements documentation as needed.
    • Assess project outcomes and identify opportunities for improvement.
    • Provide leadership and support for change management and communication.
    • Establish positive relationships with subject matter experts and stakeholders.
    • Prepare briefings for senior officials as needed.
    • Work within or define project management standards.
    • Define protocols and practices related to application support, data, and AI, including architecture and processes.
