We are searching for an experienced and motivated Senior IT Specialist to join our Technology and Innovation team located in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

About The Opportunity
As a key member of our IT team, you will serve as an escalation point for complex issues, lead the design and implementation of enterprise-level solutions, and support continuous service improvement initiatives. You will also play an essential role in maintaining a stable and secure network environment and mentoring junior IT staff.
The ideal candidate will have experience in telecommunications, technical networking, and frontline technical and/or systems support. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to convey complex information in a clear and actionable manner.
Key Responsibilities Include- Design, deploy and maintain enterprise-level IT solutions, including:
- Cloud-based and on-prem telephone systems, integrated with nurse call solutions
- Building access control
- CCTV systems
- Wired and wireless networking
- Various other low voltage systems
- Oversee network performance, switch configurations, and system security
- Administer and audit Active Directory, manage user accounts
- Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to support projects and resolve issues
- Research and implement emerging technologies to support business objectives
- Provide tier 3 support for complex internal system issues
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to junior staff
- Participate in the on-call rotation and provide emergency support as needed
- Ensure compliance with IT best practices, policies, and security standards
- Maintain documentation and support business continuity planning
About You
In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
- Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+ or similar, Aruba Networking Certified Professional are considered an asset
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in technical support
- Experience in healthcare or related industry is considered an asset
- Strong knowledge of Windows, Office 365, network design and implementation, firewalls, telephony systems (cloud and on-prem), low-voltage systems such as access control and cameras, and cybersecurity best practices
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving, planning, and organizational abilities
- Ability to lead initiatives and work collaboratively in a team environment
- High level of customer service orientation and professionalism
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including evenings/weekends
- A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services and care.
