What you will be doing:
Determines requirements and leads the implementation of short and long-term technology strategies to reflect changing business and technology needs.
Establishes plans to ensure that the required digital solutions are ready and available for use by the various Library divisions within appropriate timelines.
Responsible for managing the team to ensure exceptional support for a diverse suite of applications and digital solutions.
Implements digital infrastructure and security policies to ensure that theLibraryportfolio’s Information Systems are secure for electronic commerce, compatible withUniversity-wide
Information Technology initiatives, as well as able to interact with other University departments as required.
Ensures that both staffing and resources are available to meet the timelines for the implementation of systems in the varioussub unitsas well as to meet Library s commitment to various University-wide Information Technology initiatives.
Prepares annual budgets in the context of the the company’sLibrary’s overall priorities.
Responsible for the life cycle management of Library infrastructure and applications.
Provides technical guidance and advice to staff of all levels in managing a diverse digital ecosystem.
Liaises with vendors and technology professionals to deploy commercial and customdeveloped softwarefor departmental use while ensuring prompt ongoing support requirements are met.
Ensures compliance with licensing,privacyand security policies.
Leads design team and participates in designing, implementing, and maintainingproprietary departmentalsoftware, including but not limited to key assignments, work orders and maintenance requests.
Works with business partners and/or IT leadership to understand and anticipate business and IT needs of a major functional area with multiple lines of services.
Develops integrated strategies, operating plans,targetsand measures for functional area and leads theday to daydelivery of its programs,servicesand activities.
Negotiates,sourcesand obtains financial, physical, or human resources to support long-term projects and programs.
Develops and ensures systems, procedures, methods,standardsand controls are created and followed which foster operational efficiency, monitor compliance, mitigate risks, and achievefunctional area results.
Develops and implements innovative business solutions,programsand services, provides leadership and oversight on projects, and collaborates with others on integrated solutions andinitiatives across other administrative/academic units.
Develops and manages reporting supervisors, team leads, professionals and other staff including selection, training, coaching, performance management and all other people practices.
Provides career planning advice to staff and creates development plans to help staff achieve
their career goals including assigning work which leverages their skills and capabilities andprovides them with opportunities for learning.
Anticipates and analyzes trends in technology and assesses the impact of emerging technologies on the business.
Maintains appropriate professional designations and up-to-date knowledge of current information technology techniques and tools.
Performs other related duties as required.
What you must have:
Education: An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline is required. A postgraduate degree may be necessary for specialized positions.
Experience: A minimum of nine years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Academic Library Expertise: Experience in a higher-education environment, as well as a working knowledge of Academic Library methodologies and tools.
Procurement: Proficiency in preparing RFPs and managing RFIs/RFPs for the evaluation, selection, and procurement of products and services from vendors.
Management Skills: Expertise in change management, budget development, financial management, and risk management.
Technical Knowledge: A deep understanding and hands-on experience with various software development and enterprise application technologies.
Supervisory Experience: Significant supervisory experience required.
Leadership Mindset: A leadership mindset with a focus on mentoring and coaching team members.
Independence: The ability to work independently and assume full responsibility for decisions.
Project Management Skills: Demonstrated ability to conduct needs analyses, plan, organize, manage, monitor, complete, and evaluate projects within allocated time and resources.
Effectively facilitate groups to achieve appropriate outcomes.
Communication: The capability to develop and deliver effective presentations and workshops.
Resource Management: The ability to identify, obtain, and effectively manage organizational resources (e.g., people, materials, assets, budgets).
Multitasking: Proficiency in managing multiple tasks and priorities, working in a fast-paced environment, and meeting time-sensitive, critical deadlines.
Development Knowledge: Intermediate knowledge of application development methodologies, as well as development and implementation best practices, “rules of thumb,” and benchmarks is an asset.
Industry Awareness: An understanding of key trends and players in the IT and Academic Library industries.
Leadership Skills: Effective leadership, consulting, consensus building, conflict resolution, negotiation, and team-building skills are assets.
Salary/Rate Range: $140,000.00- $175,000.00
