Job summary

BDO Canada LLP in Montreal seeks a Senior IS Auditor to join the Technology Risk Assurance Group. You will report to the Audit & Assurance Practice and perform ITGC assessments used in financial statement audits, gathering information about client IT environments and supporting data requests.

You’ll collaborate with Managers to scope and budget, review files, and develop client deliverables including risk assessments and recommendations.

Qualifications

• CPA designation or currently pursuing.
• 2+ years of professional external audit experience.
• Bilingual in English and French required for frequent interaction with partners and clients.
• Experience in IT security or network operations is an asset.
• Willingness to pursue ISACA CISA designation.

Responsibilities

• Perform IT General Controls assessments for financial statement audits and prepare working papers.
• Collaborate with Managers to scope, budget, and review files prepared by junior IS/IT auditors.
• Review, document, evaluate, and test business processes and internal controls for design and operational effectiveness.
• Develop client deliverables including risk assessments, analyses, recommendations, and reporting.
• Provide clients with recommendations for improvement and collaborate with engagement teams to meet timelines.
• Assist Managers with proposals for existing and new clients.
• Maintain proactive information gathering and communicate complex ideas clearly.
• Build positive client relationships and identify improvements for future assignments.

Your Opportunity

As a Senior IS Auditor in our Technology Risk Assurance Group you will report to our Audit & Assurance Practice out of the Montreal office.

• Perform assessments of IT General Controls for purposes of financial statement audits and prepare appropriate working papers, including gathering information around understanding the client’s IT environment and requesting data to support these activities.
• Collaborate with Managers to scope, budget, and ultimately review files prepared by junior IS/IT auditors.
• Review, document, evaluate, and test business processes and internal controls for design and operational effectiveness in a wide range of environments and industries.
• Develop client deliverables, including risk assessments, analyses, recommendations, and reporting documentation.
• Provide clients advice regarding recommendations for improvement.
• Collaborate with engagement teams to establish timelines and ensure high quality client service.
• Assist Managers with business development proposals on existing/new clients.
• Maintain a proactive and logical approach to information gathering and present complex ideas through clear communications.
• Build positive working relationships with clients and identify improvements for future assignments.

Your experience and education

You have completed your CPA designation or are in the process of completion.

• You have at least 2 years of professional experience in external audit.
• Bilingual in English and French due to the frequent and complex contact with our English-speaking partners and clients in Quebec and outside of Quebec, and the need to draft documents in English, knowledge of English is essential for this position.
• Experience in IT security or network operations would be considered an asset.
• Working towards or planning to work towards ISACA’s Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) designation.
• You have a desire to provide outstanding client service and a commitment to teamwork.
• You display strong problem solving, analytical, and communication skills.
