Job summary

DMC Recruitment Group partners with a long-standing architectural and interior design practice in Vancouver to hire a Senior Interior Designer. You will lead commercial Tenant Improvement projects from programming through construction administration, mentoring junior designers, and collaborating with architects and consultants to deliver high-impact interiors.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of experience, a Bachelor’s in Interior Design, NCIDQ and RID eligibility, and expert skills in Revit,

Qualifications

• 8+ years of commercial interior design experience, with strong focus on Workplace/TAI projects.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design preferred.
• NCIDQ certification and RID designation or eligibility preferred.
• Strong experience in architectural or multidisciplinary design firms.
• Excellent knowledge of construction documentation, detailing, building systems, and BC codes.

Responsibilities

• Leading commercial Tenant Improvement projects from programming through construction administration.
• Manage staffing, fees, schedules, budgets, and deliverables while maintaining design quality.
• Build trusted client relationships to understand goals and project objectives.
• Develop design concepts balancing creativity, functionality, sustainability, and budget.
• Prepare engaging presentations and material palettes communicating design intent.
• Produce and review 3D models, renderings, and visual presentations.
• Research and specify finishes, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
• Develop and produce high-quality construction documentation and ensure technical accuracy.
• Collaborate with architects, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders throughout all phases.
• Participate in design reviews and mentoring opportunities.

SENIOR INTERIOR DESIGNER

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is well-rounded, hands-on, with experience successfully delivering projects from start to completion as the Prime Consultant, either independently or with the support of a team. The ideal candidate has also worked within external, mid-size, commercial A+D firms that operate on billable hours.

What You Will Be Doing

As a Senior Interior Designer, you'll lead and work on projects from start to finish, balancing creative design with technical excellence and client-focused delivery. You'll play a key role in shaping inspiring environments while leading and managing team members and contributing to the studio's collaborative culture.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Leading commercial Tenant Improvement projects from programming through construction administration.


• Manage project staffing, fees, schedules, budgets, and deliverables while maintaining exceptional design quality.


• Build trusted relationships with clients to understand their goals, vision, operational needs, and project objectives.


• Develop innovative design concepts that combine creativity, functionality, sustainability, and budget considerations.


• Prepare engaging presentations, design narratives, and material palettes that effectively communicate design intent.


• Produce and reviewing detailed 3D models, renderings, and visual presentations throughout the design process.


• Research and specifying finishes, furniture, fixtures, and equipment that align with both aesthetic and performance requirements.


• Develop and produce high-quality, coordinated construction documentation and ensuring technical accuracy.


• Collaborate closely with architects, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders throughout every phase of the project.


• Participate in design reviews, studio collaboration sessions, and mentoring opportunities.

WHAT YOU BRING

We're looking for a confident design professional who enjoys both the creative and technical aspects of commercial interior design and is ready to take on a leadership role.

You Bring

• Min. 8+ years of commercial interior design experience with a strong focus on Workplace, Retail, and other branded Commercial Tenant Improvement projects.


• A Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design from an accredited program preferred.


• NCIDQ certification and Registered Interior Designer (RID) designation, or eligibility for registration preferred.


• Strong experience working within architectural or multidisciplinary design firms.


• Excellent knowledge of construction documentation, detailing, building systems, and current BC Building Codes and local bylaws.


• Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to confidently engage clients and project teams.


• Strong project management skills with experience managing multiple concurrent projects.


• Advanced proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.


• A collaborative mindset, positive attitude, and passion for creating outstanding interior environments.
