Job Summary
Mohawk College is undertaking a major digital transformation through the Banner Business Transformation Project, reimagining our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, Banner and related processes, to enhance the student, faculty, and staff experience.
The Sr. Integrations Developer develops, supports, maintains, and implements enterprise system integrations and data exchange solutions. The incumbent will provide expertise in designing and developing integration architectures, APIs, middleware, and data flows that connect internal systems and third-party platforms within the College's core enterprise application ecosystem. Emphasis is placed on reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability of integrations.
The incumbent must be proficient in developing integration solutions using a variety of current integration platforms, protocols, and technologies, including API gateways, message queues, ETL tools, and web services (REST/SOAP).
The incumbent collaborates closely with business stakeholders across the College, external vendors, and other partners to ensure integrations meet operational, security, and compliance standards. The incumbent will also act as a technical mentor within the Information Technology Services team, promoting integration best practices and guiding the adoption of modern integration patterns and tools.
To be compliant with the Acceptance of Payment Card Policy and PCI Requirements, this position is required to provide a Police Check prior to the commencement of employment.
What you'll be doing:
Enterprise Application Development: Lead the development of new and/or update existing enterprise applications, systems and related databases
- Full Lifecycle integration development - end-to-end integration of software applications and systems from design through development, testing, deployments and maintenance.
- Design, develop and maintain key and middleware components in the application stack.
- Ensure new and existing systems design is aligned with enterprise architecture standards, IT security standards and organizational goals and values.
- Design, develop and test applications on desktop and mobile devices
- Use container, cloud and other technologies in application and systems development.
- Provides business and technical advice related to applications and integrations with new and/or existing partners/clients.
- Implements, configures and uses tools for source code control, development and deployment.
- Implements, configures and uses tools for enhancements, bugs, defects and other item reporting and tracking to track all work.
- Identifies and logs defects in and potential improvements to existing codebase, including in custom applications and in underlying libraries
- Designs fixes and improvements for applications and libraries, with attention to modularity and reusability.
- Modifies existing applications and libraries to fix defects and implement improvement.
- Analyses and resolves problems related to custom applications reported by students and staff.
Planning, Design and Standards
- Works with internal and external stakeholders to identify and document development requirements for enterprise applications.
- Develops and presents proof of concepts for new, existing or proposed enterprise solutions.
- Participates in project and defect meetings with business and technical stakeholders to validate requirements and design. specifications/standards.
- Responsible to create, edit and modify technical and end-user documentations for enterprise applications, systems, libraries or other related technologies.
- Participates in sprint and iteration planning
- Ensures standards compliance for enterprise applications and systems.
- Research and propose new technologies for continuous improvements.
- Follows established practices for the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Enterprise Application Maintenance and Testing
- Designs and performs application testing, including manual and automated unit tests, functional and non-functional tests and performance/load tests.
- Plan and develop a release calendar to ensure cadence of regular software releases.

What you'll bring to the role:
- A minimum of three years of post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, Relational database design, programming design and techniques, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum two years' experience working in an Agile/ Scrum/DevOps environment with planning and executing project development tasks practicing scrum, Kanban, Jira and other relevant experience.
- Over 5 years of hands-on experience in integration development using Java, Java EE, JavaScript, Spring, Python, Django, Angular, React, Node.js, and NoSQL technologies.
- 5+ years of experience in system architecture, enterprise-level application design, and ERP integration, with deep expertise in APIs, ETL processes, middleware, and integration patterns.
- Proficient in HTML, XML, CSS, and JavaScript, with practical experience using modern JavaScript frameworks such as AngularJS, React, and Node.js.
- Extensive experience with server-side languages including Python and Java, with a strong foundation in object-oriented programming principles.
- Skilled in working with SQL, MySQL, Oracle, and MongoDB databases.
- Expert in Web Service Development and Integration using REST, SOAP, JMS messaging, and both Request/Reply and Publish/Subscribe models.
- Strong knowledge of complex integration architecture and design, including Microservices Architecture and Azure Integration Services.
- Advanced hands-on experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Git, Bitbucket, and event-driven architectures.
- Proficient with testing tools like SOAP UI and Selenium, and container platforms including Docker, Kubernetes, and RedHat OpenShift.
- Familiarity with the Ethos Platform, including Ethos Experience, Ethos Data Connect, and Ethos API Platform (considered an asset).
- Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
- The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
