Purpose:

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Instrumentation Engineer. Our team includes world-class experts and dynamic go-getters. This is a full-time position based in Vancouver, BC. This new position has been created to fill the need for local I&C project leadership. The Senior Instrumentation Engineer will lead local I&C project teams on oil and gas engineering projects (EPS/EPC) to ensure all engineering and design work performed meets safety, quality, cost, and schedule requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, engineering, and delivery of client projects.
  • Leading I&C teams to complete deliverables within budget and on schedule.
  • Defining scope, budgets, staffing plans, updating schedules, and reporting progress.
  • Interfacing with vendors and other disciplines.
  • Reviewing and stamping Instrumentation & Controls drawings.
  • Ensuring all engineering and design work complies with quality, cost, and schedule requirements.
  • Ensuring all design work is safe, conforms to codes and standards, and is carried out safely.
  • Identifying issues and developing appropriate solutions.
  • Providing assistance during procurement, construction, and commissioning activities, if required.

What you will bring:

Technical and Industry Experience:

  • Extensive Instrumentation & Control design and engineering experience.
  • Experience leading large I&C engineering projects in the oil and gas or mining industry.
  • Ability to design and interpret Instrumentation & Controls schematics.
  • Knowledge of and exposure to HAZOP/LOPA.
  • Working knowledge of deliverables such as Control Systems and Panel Design, P&ID's, Loop, Wiring & Instrument Location Drawings, Motor Control Schematics, Control System architecture, Cause and Effect Diagrams, Instrument Installation Details, Instrument Specifications, I/O Lists, Bill of Materials, Conduit/Tray/Cable Schedules, Control Narratives, Material Requisitions, and Construction or Engineering Work Packages.
  • Experience with Instrumentation Calculation/Selection for flow, level, temperature, and pressure measurements.
  • SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) software training is an asset.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

  • Engineering Degree (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical preferred)
  • P.Eng registered with APEGBC

For applicants in British Columbia, the salary range is $120,000 to $180,000. Compensation varies based on qualifications, experience, location, internal pay equity, and market conditions.
