Description

Our electric power generation clients in Canada and the US are updating and replacing power plant control systems with new digital control systems. This expansion creates opportunities within our Instrumentation and Controls Engineering group.

This senior-level design engineering position offers challenging opportunities in nuclear Instrumentation and Controls Engineering, providing an excellent career advancement pathway. You will lead a team of nuclear I&C Engineers, collaborate with discipline engineers, designers, and clients to ensure all requirements are met.

You will work on major process controls engineering projects related to upgrades and modifications to nuclear power plants, focusing on:

  • Digital Systems such as PLC, DCS, Touchscreen displays, network switches, and control systems
  • Development of Functional Requirement and Procurement Specifications, including software categorization reports for nuclear instrumentation and control systems
  • Evaluation reports for process instrumentation replacement and nuclear modification packages
  • Preparation of instrument data sheets (IDS) and calibration sheets
  • Design input documentation, including cable block diagrams, wiring diagrams, and schematics
  • Vendor interface and equipment purchase specifications
  • Technical reports and studies to meet client needs
  • Participation in client meetings and site walkdowns to ensure client satisfaction
  • Mentorship of less experienced nuclear I&C engineers
Qualifications

Note: We do not sponsor work authorization in Canada for this position.

Applicants must be citizens of countries listed in Appendix A to Part 810 of the CFR, as this role may involve access to U.S. export-controlled information. Please verify your eligibility.

Essential skills and experience include:

  • A BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET- or Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board-accredited program
  • At least 5 years of experience in design engineering for process control systems; nuclear power plant control system experience is preferred
  • Experience with power plant instrumentation and controls, especially for Candu reactors, including DCS for turbine, control, feedwater, and data display systems
  • Knowledge of available equipment and proven pre-engineered systems for system design
  • Experience reviewing design drawings

Valued but not required:

  • P.Eng license
