Job summary

Ausenco in Vancouver is seeking a Senior I&C Engineer to join our Minerals & Metals team. You will collaborate with engineering and design teams from FEED through Detailed Engineering to support construction, develop cost estimates, and manage instrumentation and control system deliverables.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in heavy industry, a PE/EGBC-eligible status, and strong communication skills. Salary range shown reflects the Vancouver market and a hybrid work setup.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive experience as an instrumentation and control engineer in heavy industry.
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Familiarity with PLC, SCADA and DCS control systems; strong analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with design teams from FEED through Detailed Engineering to construction support.
  • Develop capital cost estimates for feasibility studies and proposals.
  • Monitor costs related to instrumentation and control system equipment selection and installation.
  • Produce instrument and control system deliverables (datasheets, drawings, BOMs).
  • Participate in HAZOP and technical reviews.

Our team in Canada is growing. We are currently recruiting for a Senior I&C Engineer to join our Minerals & Metals Business line in the Vancouver office.

About the Role:
  • Collaborating with the engineering and design team from FEED through scoping and Detailed Engineering to Construction support.
  • Developing capital cost estimates for feasibility study and detail engineering proposals
  • Monitoring costs associated with the selection, cost and installation of Instrumentation and Control System equipment
  • Design instrumentation-related engineering deliverables, i.e. instrument indexes, installation details, location drawings, datasheets, wiring drawings, loop drawings, P&ID's, material requisitions, evaluation of alternatives and selection of instruments, calculations (control valve, flow elements, pressure safety valves), document control logs, bill of materials and instrument change approvals, construction work package.
  • Design controls related engineering deliverables, i.e., logic drawings, termination/ wiring diagrams, block diagrams, panel layouts, control system topology/ control system architecture, control narrative, and cable schedule.
  • Participates in HAZOP reviews and in other technical, constructability and quality reviews.
About You:
  • Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation and Instrumentation or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience as an instrumentation and control engineer in heavy industry is required.
  • Registered with EGBC as a P.Eng or eligible to register with EGBC as a P.Eng. within the next year.
  • Strong analytical, communication (oral and written) and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary project team including process, mechanical, civil-structural, electrical, instrumentation and CAD support
  • Working knowledge of codes, standards, regulations, and practices.
  • Familiarity with hardware requirements of PLC, SCADA and DCS control systems
  • Knowledge of Industrial IT including Ethernet networking system is an asset.
  • Experience with communication protocols such as DNP, Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, IEC 61850 is an asset.

Salary range: $135,000-$155,000
