Job summary

Randstad Canada invites a Senior Programmer Analyst to lead IBM i / AS400 development and maintenance, delivering reliable business processing software across the full SDLC. The role combines design, coding, testing, deployment, and support in a hybrid Burlington, ON environment.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of IBM i/AS400 experience with RPG IV, ILE and COBOL, and a collaborative mindset to work with a skilled engineering team on core applications.

Qualifications

• 5+ years on IBM System i / AS400 in RPG IV, RPG Free, and ILE.
• 4+ years COBOL maintenance on the iSeries platform.
• Solid understanding OS400, DB2/400, Query/400, CL scripting, and library/file structures.
• Ability to manage complete SDLC lifecycle independently with strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
• Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed technical specifications and perform programming, unit testing, system integration testing, and deployment to deliver reliable business processing software on schedule.
• Develop, maintain, and refactor business applications on IBM i / AS400 using RPG IV, RPG Free, ILE, and COBOL.
• Analyze, debug, and troubleshoot existing batch and interactive software; participate in code walkthroughs and performance tuning.
• Assist with new application software implementations, system upgrades, technical fixes, and third-party integrations.
• Provide go-live deployment support and participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for critical applications.
