WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

As the Senior IAM Resiliency Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that IAM systems, services, and applications are reliable, available, and recoverable in the face of failures within RBC and its subsidiaries. The ideal candidate is passionate about authentication, security, has experience building and supporting large scale enterprise software, and has direct experience in authentication, identity, PAM, security, and in building complex rule-based systems for authorization.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Design and implement IAM resiliency strategies to ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and fault tolerance across critical identity systems for authentications, authorization, identity lifecycle and privileged access management.
  • Lead incident response and recovery efforts for IAM outages or degradations, conducting root cause analysis and implementing long-term remediation and prevention measures.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, security and applications teams to integrate IAM services into broader business continuity and disaster recovery plans, ensuring alignment with enterprise resilience goals.
  • Develop and maintain automated monitoring and alerting for IAM services for proactively detect and respond to performance and availability issues.
  • Evaluate and test failover, backup, and recovery procedures for IAM components, conducting regular tabletop exercises and simulations to validate readiness.
  • Contribute to the hardening and redundancy of IAM architectures, identifying single points of failure and driving the adoption of scalable, multi-region, or hybrid IAM solutions.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have

  • 4-7 years of deep expertise in IAM platforms – proven experience with enterprise-grade identity systems (e.g., federated SSO, MFA, directory services, PAM, IGA), with hands-on knowledge leading tools such as Okta, Entra ID, CyberArk, SailPoint, HashiCorp, RSA, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, test, and maintain high-availability and failover solutions for IAM services in hybrid or multi-cloud environments.
  • In-depth understanding of IAM’s role in the enterprise security architecture, with the ability to identify and mitigate availability and security risks.
  • Experience automating monitoring, backups, and recovery procedures using tools like PowerShell, Python, or Terraform to support operational resilience.
  • Skilled in leading incident management for IAM outages, including diagnostics, RCA documentation, and implementation of long-term fixes.
  • Ability to partner with security, infrastructure, cloud, and compliance teams to align IAM resiliency with broader IT and business continuity objectives.
