Job summary

Tetra Tech in Calgary, Alberta is seeking a Senior Hydrotechnical Engineer to join our Power team. The role emphasizes hydrological assessments, hydraulic design, and regulatory submissions for large hydropower projects.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, manage multiple projects, and travel as needed, contributing to sustainable water and energy solutions while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• PE / P.Eng registration in US or Canada is required.
• 6+ years of experience in consulting engineering.
• Expertise in hydrotechnical engineering and hydraulic structures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint), with advanced Excel skills
• Experience in hydrological modeling, sediment transport, and hydraulic analysis.
• Strong communication for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Willingness and ability to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• As an Hydrotechnical Engineer, contribute to delivering high-quality, sustainable engineering solutions.
• Conduct hydrological assessments, including low-flow analysis and flood flow statistical analysis.
• Use industry-standard hydrotechnical modeling software to develop analyses and summaries.
• Perform hydraulic design for rivers, weirs, intakes, and dams.
• Prepare technical reports and regulatory submissions for permitting processes.
• Conduct energy and economic evaluations for hydropower plants.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on hydropower projects ranging from $10M to $400M.
• Support ongoing professional development and maintain technical knowledge.
• Work safely and report health and safety concerns.
• Perform additional duties as required.
