Hatch is seeking a qualified Structural Engineer with extensive analysis and design experience on large and small hydro power projects. The Engineer will be part of an engineering team providing technical support and design of concrete structures involving dam spillways, intake structures, powerhouse, hoist support structures and stability analyses of dams and related structures.
Key Responsibilities:
-Structural analysis and design of hydraulic structures, hydroelectric power plants, and related structures (concrete and steel).
-Rehabilitation and/or modification of existing structures, such as hydraulic structures, hydroelectric power plants, and related structures.
-Working with other engineers in a multidisciplinary environment.
-Participating in the inspection of existing structures.
-Designing concrete and steel structures, performing static and seismic analysis.
-Stability analyses of dams and spillways, and stabilization work.
-Ensuring compliance with all relevant codes, engineering standards, and internal procedures for all design activities.
-Preparing and contributing to technical memos, reports, and drawings within areas of expertise.
Core Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis on structural analysis and design.
-At least 10 years of relevant experience in hydraulic structure engineering or hydroelectric projects.
-Registered as a Professional Engineer or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada.
-Fluency in English (spoken and written); bilingualism is an asset.
-Excellent communication and writing skills.
-Proficiency in the use of programs such as AutoCAD, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, STAAD PRO, SAP2000, Advance Design, MATHCAD, and CADAM 3D.
-Completed courses in finite element analysis, structural analysis, design of reinforced concrete, and structural steel design using Canadian codes and standards.
The following qualifications would be considered assets:
-Experience in detailed structural design of hydroelectric structures.
-Master's or PhD degree specializing in structural analysis and design.
