Stantec’s Water Resources Team in British Columbia is seeking a Senior Hydrologist or Water Resources Engineer to provide senior technical oversight, apply professional judgment, and stamp hydrology and water resources deliverables.
The successful candidate will collaborate with the Senior Water Resources Team Lead and an established Senior Hydrologist to strengthen technical quality in hydrometrics, modelling, and water management.
Stantec’s Water Resources Team, in the Environmental Services Business Centre, is seeking a Senior Hydrologist or Water Resources Engineer to join our British Columbia team. This role is intended for a highly experienced professional who provides senior technical oversight, applies sound professional judgment, and is able to independently review and stamp hydrology and water resources deliverables.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Water Resources Team Lead, as well as with an established Senior Hydrologist, to ensure strong integration across water‑related disciplines and consistency in technical approaches and deliverables. Together, this senior group will strengthen technical quality, mentorship, and capability across hydrometrics, hydrologic assessments and modelling, water balances and water management work. This position is focused on guiding and leading technical work, supporting team development, and reinforcing best practices from a senior level.
Preferred office locations are Burnaby, Victoria, or Sidney, British Columbia. Other Stantec offices within British Columbia may also be considered depending on the candidate’s experience and business needs.
Master’s degree in Geoscience, Engineering, or related field is required. Doctorate is considered an asset.
Minimum 13 years related experience in hydrologic assessments and modelling, water management, and water balances.
Experience with GoldSim, R, and hydrological datasets (e.g., ERA5) would be an asset.
Mining experience, including incorporation of climate change effects into hydrologic assessments.
Typical office environment involves working with computers and remaining relatively sedentary. Field work may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather and rough terrain, and requirements to lift items and equipment up to 50 lbs. Stantec offers a flexible work arrangement for desk‑based tasks, combining home‑based and office‑based time.

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part‑time roles will be pro‑rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
