Your Opportunity

Stantec’s HVDC Center of Excellence is seeking a Senior HVDC and FACTS Project Engineer to work with our globally recognized team on HVDC and FACTS projects worldwide. Your responsibilities will include performing front-end engineering design activities, developing technical specifications, evaluating tenders, reviewing design submissions, witnessing factory tests, and supporting commissioning activities. You will also participate in business development, industry technical committees, and technical presentations.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Knowledge of HVDC / FACTS application and operation.
  • Design knowledge including valves, valve cooling, reactors, capacitors, transformers, and controls.
  • Preparing technical specifications, evaluating bids, reviewing designs, witnessing factory tests, and on-site commissioning.
  • Understanding control and protection systems for HVDC / FACTS technologies.
  • Conducting studies related to HVDC / FACTS in power systems.
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills and willingness to travel.
Your Capabilities And Credentials
  • Ability to lead project tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Guiding and mentoring junior staff in HVDC / FACTS.
  • Representing the company in technical committees.
  • Maintaining client and industry relationships.
  • Participating in business development activities.
  • Staying current with industry developments.
Education And Experience
  • BSc in electrical engineering required.
  • At least 15 years of industry experience, including 10+ years in HVDC / FACTS.
  • Registered or eligible for registration in Canada or the US.
