The Human Resources team at Northland is expanding, and we are looking for an HR leader to join our team as Senior Human Resources Manager for the Northland Restaurant Group. This role is based out of our Vancouver office and supports multiple restaurant brands, including Moxies, Chop, Shark Club, Boulevard, and Tavern. This role provides mentorship to team members of the Restaurants HR team and support to multi-unit operations leaders.

The successful candidate will assist in creating, implementing, organizing, and executing HR initiatives and programs to support our company’s overall business strategy and objectives. You will be involved in all facets of the HR department, including employer of choice programs, recruiting, policies and procedures, HRIS, employee relations, and operations partnerships.

Your Responsibilities

  1. Oversee HR initiatives like talent assessments, employee engagement projects, training initiatives, and admin support for systems and tactics.
  2. Develop and implement HR programs and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
  3. Support senior leadership and restaurant operations teams by providing HR advice, counsel, and decision-making support. Assist with documentation and sensitive conversations, partnering with Operations for difficult discussions.
  4. Research, develop, write, and update policies, procedures, methods, and guidelines; communicate and enforce organizational values.
  5. Manage health & safety initiatives, ensure compliance through monthly restaurant meetings, support ministry audits, and implement H&S improvements to maintain standards.
  6. Oversee employee hotline complaints and conduct investigations into employee conduct and behavior.
  7. Lead full-cycle internal investigations.
  8. Monitor adherence to internal policies and legal standards.
  9. Participate in company meetings.
  10. Execute employee engagement surveys, analyze results, and collaborate with senior leadership to create action plans.
  11. Lead employee focus groups, analyze feedback, and work with operations leaders to address concerns.
  12. Advise on recruitment processes.
  13. Research emerging HR trends and recommend initiatives to senior leadership.

Skills and Experience

  1. Proven leadership in HR, people, and culture; experience in restaurants or hospitality is a plus.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field; CPHR preferred.
  3. Strong business acumen and high ethical standards.
  4. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  5. Proficient in MS Office; experience with Dayforce, HRIS, and ATS beneficial.
  6. Ability to build rapport with employees, leadership, and vendors.
  7. Some travel outside BC required, with bi-monthly location visits preferred.
