We are currently recruiting for an exciting Senior HR Manager role with a global construction firm located in Vancouver. This position oversees human resources for over 500 employees in BC within a unionized environment.

This role involves leading HR initiatives in BC. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years of experience managing unionized environments, a strong understanding of BC Employment Law, experience with bullying & harassment investigations, workplace injury accommodations, and the ability to mentor multiple leaders across the organization.

Responsibilities :

  • Serve as the main HR point of contact in the BC region
  • Manage HR functions for a portfolio of over 500 employees across BC
  • Handle compensation, benefits, employee relations, performance management, training, development, and relocation support
  • Advise management on BC Employment Law compliance
  • Mediate workplace issues at all organizational levels
  • Provide HR counsel to the executive team
  • Interpret and enforce policies, including disciplinary actions
  • Develop and implement short-term and long-term business strategies
  • Ensure effective training and development opportunities meet business needs
  • Manage employee relations issues effectively
  • Coordinate projects, compliance, testing, reporting, and facilitate problem solving and resolution

Job Requirements :

  • Ability to work 100% onsite
  • 5-10 years of local experience in a unionized HR environment
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and own vehicle for site visits
  • Experience in production and manufacturing sectors
  • Knowledge of labor relations
  • Understanding of BC Employment Standards
  • Knowledge of respectful workplace strategies
  • Experience conducting bullying & harassment investigations
  • Experience managing workplace injury accommodations
  • Ability to work with different corporate levels, understanding that progress may be gradual
  • Excellent written communication skills
