Job summary

Government of Nova Scotia in Halifax seeks a Senior Strategist to drive housing policy across municipalities, shape housing supply, and lead complex projects with partners across government and the private sector.

You will monitor initiatives, provide leadership and advice to engage stakeholders, and ensure plans align with strategic objectives, equity commitments, and growth priorities for Nova Scotia. This on-site, permanent role offers a 35-hour work week.

Qualifications

• Completed a post-secondary program in a related field with at least three years in a policy environment.
• Knowledge of housing issues, legislative frameworks and strategic planning.
• Licensure as a Planner/Engineer is considered an asset, with relevant residential development experience.
• Strong systems thinking, leadership in project teams and cross-department collaboration.
• Commitment to equity and diversity in public service and policy development.

Responsibilities

• Conduct evidence-informed analysis on policy impacts and implications.
• Review external plans for alignment with strategic objectives.
• Monitor housing initiatives to ensure alignment with approved plans.
• Plan and develop critical initiatives with strategic and analytical rigor.
• Lead issues management, identify risks, and develop proactive solutions.
• Provide leadership and advice to engage stakeholders effectively.
