Job summary

Jobgether in Canada partners with a senior Health & Safety leader to strengthen occupational safety across a complex, multi-site organization. The role focuses on strategic program design, policy development, and practical guidance for leaders and operations across jurisdictions.

You’ll interpret Canadian health and safety legislation, convert requirements into actionable controls, and drive prevention-focused practices to reduce incidents and improve preparedness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related discipline.
  • 5–7 years of progressive health and safety experience developing programs, policies, or safety management systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of OH&S legislation across multiple Canadian jurisdictions.
  • Experience integrating ISO 45001 into organizational programs and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement organization-wide OH&S programs covering risk identification and incident management.
  • Develop policies, standards, procedures, and tools aligned with Canadian legislation and ISO 45001.
  • Create scalable safety solutions across diverse operations and sites.
  • Interpret OH&S legislation across jurisdictions and translate into clear guidance.
  • Advise leaders on obligations while maintaining a national safety framework.
  • Lead hazard and risk assessments and support mitigation strategies.
  • Strengthen safety culture via training, awareness, and accountability.
  • Monitor safety performance using metrics, reporting, and data analysis.
  • Support enterprise risk management and align safety initiatives with priorities.
  • Collaborate across multi-site environments, including unionized workplaces.
  • Handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.

Accountabilities

  • Interpret occupational healthand safety legislationacross multiple Canadianjurisdictions and translateregulatory requirementsinto clear guidanceand actionable controls.
  • Advise leaders andoperational stakeholderson jurisdiction-specificobligations while maintaininga consistent nationalhealth and safetyframework.
  • Lead hazard andrisk assessments andsupport effective mitigationstrategies using thehierarchy of controls.
  • Strengthen organizationalsafety capability throughtraining, awareness initiatives, coaching, and clearaccountability for safework practices.
  • Monitor health andsafety performance usingmetrics, reporting, anddata analysis toidentify trends, emerging risks, andopportunities for continuousimprovement.
  • Support enterprise-levelrisk management byanticipating emerging hazardsand aligning safetyinitiatives with broaderorganizational priorities.
  • Work effectively acrossmulti-site and multi-industry environments,including unionized workplaces, to promote consistentand practical safetypractices.
  • Handle sensitive informationand high-pressuresituations with professionalism, integrity, sound judgment, and discretion.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree inHealth and Safety, Occupational Health andSafety, or arelated discipline.
  • 5–7 yearsof progressive healthand safety experience, including demonstratedexperience developing programs, policies, or safetymanagement systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledgeof occupational healthand safety legislationand regulatory requirementsacross multiple Canadianjurisdictions.
  • Proven ability tobuild health andsafety policies, procedures, and programs fromthe ground upand adapt themto diverse operationalenvironments.
  • Strong understanding ofriskassessment, hazard identification, incident management, emergencypreparedness, and thehierarchy of controls.
  • Experience integratingISO 45001or comparable healthand safety managementsystem frameworks intoorganizationalprograms and continuousimprovement initiatives.
  • Ability to translatecomplex regulatory andtechnical requirementsinto concise, practicalrecommendations for leadersand operational teams.
  • Experience working acrossmultiple locations, industries, orbusiness environments,ideally including unionizedsettings.
  • Strong analytical capabilities, including the abilityto work withlarge HR andsafety datasets usingExcel, HRIS platforms, and reporting tools.
  • Ability to identifytrends, validate data, assess enterprise-levelrisks, and useevidence to informsafety decisions andstrategy.
  • Strong communication, stakeholderengagement, influencing, and consulting skills.
  • Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, sound judgment, and ability tomanage confidential informationand sensitive situations.
  • CRSP or CHSCcertificationis considered anasset.
  • Strong organizational skillsand the abilityto manage multiplepriorities while supportingstakeholders across acomplex organization.
