Job summary

WSP in Canada is seeking a Senior Health Risk Assessment Specialist within its Environmental Risk Assessment practice. You will shape environmental risk management across the country, lead complex human health and ecological risk assessments, and translate scientific evidence into practical strategies that protect people and ecosystems.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in Toxicology, Environmental Science, Environmental Health, Public Health, Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience leading health and ecological risk assessments in environmental consulting, industry, or government.
• Familiarity with Canadian federal and provincial risk assessment frameworks and regulatory processes.
• Advanced knowledge of toxicology, exposure modelling, fate and transport concepts, risk characterization.
• Strong leadership of complex projects, budgets, and multidisciplinary teams toward defensible outcomes.
• Proven technical writing and communication of risk assessment findings.
• Ability to travel to client sites and project locations.

Responsibilities

• Lead human health and ecological risk assessments informing project decisions.
• Provide senior technical direction on exposure assessment and risk characterization in Canada.
• Direct multidisciplinary teams integrating science, engineering, hydrogeology, geology, toxicology, and regulatory expertise into clear solutions.
• Develop risk management strategies for remediation, environmental approvals, impact assessments, and contaminated sites management.
• Strengthen client relationships with trusted advice throughout the project lifecycle and identify opportunities to create greater value.
• Mentor emerging risk assessment professionals and help build technical excellence across the national practice.
