What You'll Do

  • Collaborate in the development, updating, and delivery of safety training programs, including WHMIS 2015, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), and Safety Talks. By equipping employees with the knowledge they need, you will ensure they feel empowered to make safe decisions.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and job safety analyses. Your proactive approach will ensure that safety concerns are addressed before they become incidents, and that suggestions for improvement are implemented across the organization.
  • Support operational leaders with incident reporting, conducting investigations, and helping ensure that corrective actions are not just completed, but effective in preventing future incidents.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and the Safety Department in managing WSIB cases, including reporting, return-to-work planning, and case tracking. Your role will ensure that all employees receive the support they need while maintaining a focus on safety and safe return to work.
  • In partnership with HR, you will help manage and maintain accurate training records and certifications, ensuring that recertifications and testing are scheduled and completed on time.
  • Organize third-party safety training programs (First Aid, Forklift, Crane Safety, etc.) to keep all employees prepared and up to date on their qualifications.
  • Regularly analyze safety statistics and trends, bringing forward insights and suggestions to drive continuous improvement. You'll help cultivate a world-class safety culture where every team member feels responsible for looking out for one another.
  • Mentor leadership and junior safety professionals, fostering a culture of shared safety responsibility and continual improvement of life-threatening safety programs and procedures.
  • Assist in auditing safety programs and help improve internal audit practices to ensure we are always raising the bar on safety standards.

  • Experience in developing and delivering safety training programs and writing policies and procedures.
  • A proactive, forward-thinking approach to safety with the ability to anticipate risks and address them before they result in incidents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A collaborative, people-centered approach is essential to engaging with all employees and ensuring safety is a shared responsibility.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
