Position Details

SickKids invites applications for a 22-month full-time contract position as Senior Grants Officer - Grant Applications, Development & Awards in the Research Institute. The successful candidate will oversee and support a high volume of operating grant applications, representing the Research Institute and becoming a subject-matter expert in external grant policies and procedures. This role involves collaboration with leading scientists, hospital administrators, grant-writers, and international partners, contributing significantly to SickKids' research growth.

Responsibilities
  1. Oversee and coordinate administrative and financial aspects of grant applications, including compliance and budget review.
  2. Manage major competitions, setting timelines and ensuring adherence to policies and guidelines.
  3. Provide project management oversight for complex, multi-site applications.
  4. Draft correspondence, forms, and memos related to grants.
  5. Build relationships with funding agencies and research partners.
  6. Serve as a hospital-wide expert on grant policies and practices.
  7. Maintain knowledge of the research funding environment and policies in Canada and abroad.
  8. Innovate and improve processes, tools, and procedures.
  9. Maintain application metrics and databases.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. Undergraduate degree or equivalent; health science, business, or financial background preferred.
  2. Minimum 2 years' experience in research, healthcare, or academic environment.
  3. Experience with research funding applications.
  4. Strong multitasking and prioritization skills.
  5. Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
  6. Resourcefulness and quick learning aptitude.
  7. High literacy and numeracy skills.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  9. Commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Assets
  • Experience with PeopleSoft.
  • Experience in healthcare or health science research agencies.

Employment Type: Full-Time Contract (35 hours/week), Hybrid
