Job summary

EXP is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer in Ottawa, ON to lead diverse geotechnical projects, mentor staff and grow the local market. You’ll work with the Geotechnical Division Manager to drive project success, client relationships, and delivering high‑quality reports.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years in geotechnical consulting, a P.Eng. in Ontario, and strong leadership and budgeting skills. A postgraduate degree is an asset, and Ontario licensing is required for this role.

Qualifications

• P.Eng. designation in Ontario (required).
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering; postgraduate degree is an asset.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant geotechnical experience, ideally in a consulting environment.
• At least 5 years’ experience in a senior project management role within geotechnical investigation, design, and construction.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong client relationships to support ongoing and future projects.
• Prepare proposals, including scopes of work, cost estimates, and project schedules.
• Plan and execute assignments requiring broad geotechnical expertise and an understanding of related disciplines.
• Apply sound engineering judgment, adapting standard methods to meet unique project conditions.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, suppliers, and third‑party stakeholders to deliver project objectives.
• Manage projects end‑to‑end, including scope, schedule, budget, and resource allocation.
• Direct field investigations, monitoring programs, and construction‑phase services.
• Attend project meetings and conduct site inspections when senior technical guidance is required.
• Review and interpret geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring data.
• Perform engineering analysis, including computer‑based modelling.
• Prepare and review technical reports and deliverables.
• Collaborate with senior staff on complex or challenging technical issues.
• Work independently with minimal supervision based on project complexity.
• Mentor, coach, and support the development of junior and intermediate staff
