Job summary

WSP is seeking a senior Geotechnical Engineer to join the Ground Engineering and Materials team on Vancouver Island, based in Nanaimo. You will lead geotechnical projects from investigation through design and construction support across BC and the Yukon, collaborating with government and industry partners.

The ideal candidate has a Civil or Geological Engineering degree, 10+ years of experience, and registrations with EGBC.

Qualifications

Degree in Civil or Geological Engineering with a geotechnical focus.
Registered or eligible for registration as a P.Eng. with EGBC.
Minimum 10 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
Proficiency with geotechnical software (GeoStudio, Rocscience).

Responsibilities

Lead and deliver geotechnical engineering projects from investigation through to design and construction support.
Prepare technical studies and reports with clear, actionable recommendations.
Collaborate across disciplines to support infrastructure projects including highways, bridges, dams, and buildings.
Share expertise across regions to strengthen technical excellence and innovation.
Manage geotechnical investigation programs, including subcontractor coordination and tendering support.
Evaluate complex geotechnical challenges such as settlement, slope stability, liquefaction, and frost effects.
Oversee field programs including drilling, in-situ testing, and construction monitoring.
Contribute to successful project delivery aligned with quality, schedule, and budget targets.
