Job summary

Klohn Crippen Berger (KCB) in Vancouver, BC seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to lead geotechnical design for hydroelectric and related projects. You will mentor staff, manage proposals to completion, and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams on transport, hydro, and civil infrastructure.

The role requires a P.Eng with EGBC, 15+ years of experience, and expertise in GeoStudio/PLAXIS. Hybrid work options and a strong client-facing orientation are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical, Civil Engineering, or related field (Master’s degree is an asset).
• Professional designation (P. Eng) with EGBC, or eligibility to apply within the year.
• 15+ years of geotechnical engineering consulting experience.
• Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software (e.g., GeoStudio, PLAXIS, gINT, or similar).
• Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering principles and applicable codes and standards.
• Project management experience, including proposal through risk evaluation to completion.
• Hands-on experience conducting site investigations, soil sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Strong technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Guide clients through complex geotechnical designs and hazards, from proposal through construction management.
• Provide risk management and regulatory navigation to geotechnical engineering projects, including design recommendations for foundations, retaining walls, slope stability, and embankments.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide geotechnical input on transportation, hydroelectric, marine, and civil infrastructure projects.
• Review and prepare technical reports, proposals, design specifications, and recommendations for clients and stakeholders.
• Perform geotechnical modeling and analysis using industry-standard software such as GeoStudio, PLAXIS, or similar tools.
• Preparation of construction documents and provide construction support as required.
• Communicate effectively with clients, project teams, and regulatory agencies.
• Develop less experienced engineers and project managers in the coordination and management of projects.
• An ability to build rapport with clients and stakeholders, and a track record of increasing backlog.
