Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Gibraltar health and safety policies.
- Supervise and provide guidance to Geologists and technical staff.
- Participate in coaching, mentorship, and evaluation of staff.
- Prepare technical reports for compliance with industry requirements.
- Perform reconciliation analysis between resources, reserves, mine, and mill numbers.
- Control costs related to mine geology activities.
- Collaborate with Mine Engineering team to maintain production rates and compliance.
- Recommend improvements to procedures and methods ensuring compliance.
- Manage database integrity and review data quality.
- Work with Mine Engineering and Metallurgy groups on geological factors impacting production.
- Mine Geology and Ore Control:
- Mentor Ore Control team and support daily activities.
- Supervise geological data collection and validation.
- Modelling and Reconciliation:
- Build and maintain Geological models.
- Update short-range and stockpile models.
- Complete month-end reconciliation and reporting.
- Support resource improvement initiatives.
- Project Geology:
- Plan, execute, and report on infill drilling programs.
- Support Near Mine Exploration projects.
- Participate in Grade control improvement initiatives.
- Engage in mine-to-mill projects.
Professional Experience / Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
- Geological experience with porphyry or similar deposits is an asset.
- Experience with 3D geological modelling and resource estimation is an asset.
- Supervisory experience is an asset.
- Strong interdepartmental communication skills.
- Able to adapt and re-prioritize tasks as needed.
- Strong self-learning ability.
- Ability to work independently or in a team.
- 6+ years of related experience; open pit experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Mineplan, Datashed, Leapfrog Geo, and Wenco is an asset.
Education
- Degree or similar education in Geology/Geological Engineering.
- Registered, or eligible to register, as a P.Geo with Engineers & Geoscientists British Columbia.
