Position Overview

As a Senior Geologist/Engineer you will conduct in-depth reviews and analysis of technical reports and other scientific and technical disclosures, including disclosure of mineral resources and mineral reserves. You will work with and provide expert advice to Commission staff, as well as interface with public companies and the mining industry on securities related matters. You will work closely with other regulatory agencies in Canada to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of British Columbia and Canadian capital markets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify disclosure deficiencies and regulatory concerns and communicate them to issuers, with the goal of improving accuracy, clarity, and compliance of public disclosure.
  • Serve as the Commission’s technical subject matter expert on geological, mining, and mineral disclosure matters, providing advice and collaborating with other Commission employees.
  • Participate in Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) committees and working groups to support consistent regulation across Canadian jurisdictions.
  • Monitor and analyze emerging industry practices and disclosure trends to inform policy development and regulatory guidance.
  • Develop and deliver presentations, educational materials and technical guidance to promote industry understanding of NI 43-101 and related disclosure requirements.
  • Share technical knowledge and regulatory experience internally to strengthen staff understanding of geology, mining practices and mineral disclosure requirements.

  • Has at least 8 years of broad based, post-graduation experience in mineral exploration, mine development, mineral project assessment, or a combination of these experiences.
  • An advanced degree in geology or engineering and/or additional business or financial education accreditation is considered an asset
