Job summary

Velan Studios, Inc. is seeking a Senior Gameplay Animator to elevate how characters move, respond, and feel in gameplay. You will collaborate with artists, engineers and designers to craft animation tightly integrated with gameplay and engine-driven sequences.

You will lead animation from prototyping to production-ready performances, mentoring teammates and pushing for expressive, responsive motion across projects. Hybrid/onsite work in a studio setting is offered.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional game animation experience.
• Standout reel showing body mechanics, timing and personality.
• Expert in Maya or equivalent 3D animation software.
• Hands-on in-engine work with state machines and tools.
• Proactive, self-directed with good communication to Eng/Design.
• Passionate about expressive, player-centric animation.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the game's animation style with expressive body mechanics.
• Own the full gameplay animation process from rough prototypes to polished performances.
• Drive in-engine development with animation systems and state machines.
• Collaborate with designers and engineers to push animation ideas forward.
• Document tools and workflows.
• Mentor other animators with feedback and guidance.
• Champion animation across the studio for clarity and life.
• Project Lead role based on project circumstances.
