Salary $27.37 - $34.66 per hour ($46,263- $58,567 per annum, 32.5 hours per week)

Job Summary

Dalhousie Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) is the premier Maritime location for advanced study with over 3,500 graduate students in a research-intensive environment who can choose from over 95 Master’s degrees and more than 45 Doctoral programs. Students learn with top professors in their fields; experts who are recognized across Canada and the world. Reporting to the Budget Officer, the Senior Funding and Awards Clerk will administer awards, prizes and bursary application processes as well as select external graduate scholarship competitions, while maintaining a thorough working knowledge of funding policies, procedures and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage bursary, award and prize application processes within the FGS Scholarship Management Portal, as well as scholarships administered outside of the portal.
  • Monitor available budgets to determine number of awards available.
  • Verify applications for completeness, and eligibility.
  • Respond to inquiries from students, departments, or agencies/funding bodies about bursaries, awards, scholarships.
  • Perform financial duties in support of the Budget Officer, including processing financial forms, reconciling the FGS operating account, and supporting all FGS travel claim and reimbursement transactions.
  • Act as student liaison to assist students in navigating scholarship payment process and troubleshoot when errors occur. Prepare and deliver information sessions for students regarding navigation of graduate student payments.

Note

The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Business/Administrative Professional program, with five years’ related experience (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Excellent organization, attention to detail, customer-service oriented, communication (written & verbal) and interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritize tasks in a demanding environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel).

Assets

  • Familiarity with Dalhousie’s Graduate Funding Payment System/Banner Student Aid and other Banner applications.
  • Experience in a university environment relating to the administration of graduate scholarships, various funding agency and gift agreement policies and regulations, and university administrative systems for financial and scholarship matters.
