SUMMARY

This position performs financial and risk analysis regarding the BC credit union deposit insurance fund investment and fund manager performance.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Analyses the financial performance of the BC credit union deposit insurance fund and recommends mitigation options regarding performance risks.
  • Assesses the overall performance of the fund investment manager and compliance with the Board’s investment policy.
  • Contributes to the periodic review of the fund investment strategy and policy.
  • Prepares annual financial statements for the Credit Union Deposit Insurance Corporation.
  • Participates in contingency planning relating to deposit insurance payouts.
  • Responds to enquiries from the public, industry stakeholders, and peer Canadian regulators.
  • Develops briefing notes, correspondence, and information material for internal and external audiences.
  • Actively participates in research studies, special projects and presentations, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Contributes to the team’s development of internal work practices (e.g., policies, procedures, and tools).
  • Provides orientation and training to internal and / or external stakeholders within area of responsibility.
  • Contributes to, participates in, and supports organizational business transformation initiatives.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge of content, interpretation, and application of the Financial Institutions Act / Regulations and the Credit Union Incorporation Act / Regulations.
  • Knowledge of the methods and procedures involved in the development and management of deposit protection programs.
  • Knowledge of fund investment management methodologies.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis techniques and business operational procedures.
  • Ability to exercise judgement, initiative, and discretion.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of risk management principles and methods.
  • Proficiency in handling and analyzing large datasets
  • Advanced knowledge of data analytics software, including Power BI

EDUCATION

  • Degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, and four to six years related experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Related experience includes :

o Analyses or examinations experience in the financial services, business, or commercial sectors

o Interpreting and applying legislation, regulations, and / or policy
