Job summary

HTS Assist, Hopper's agentic AI assistant for travel, seeks a senior full stack engineer to anchor the product end to end. You will own voice channels, CPaaS integrations, streaming speech-to-text, and real-time orchestration across React/TypeScript front ends, Scala and Python services, and GCP infrastructure.

You will design for multi-tenant scale, implement safety and compliance, and ensure latency and SLA targets while mentoring teammates and driving architectural decisions.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with ownership of production systems
• Hands-on realtime systems experience (voice apps, streaming, low latency)
• Strong frontend (React/TypeScript) and backend (Scala or JVM language, Python) with cloud infra on GCP/AWS
• Experience designing and maintaining RESTful APIs, microservices, or event-driven systems
• Familiarity with AI coding tools as part of workflow and ability to review and own code
• OS mindset: SLAs, observability, on-call rotations, rollback plans
• Ability to break down complex problems, make pragmatic tradeoffs, ship iteratively
• Bonus: conversational AI / LLM orchestration with speech tech (Deepgram, ElevenLabs, Whisper, OpenAI Realtime)
• Bonus: cloud telephony / CPaaS platforms (Twilio, Amazon Connect, Genesys, LiveKit)
• Bonus: experience building CS, CRM, contact center, or workflow tools
• Familiarity with travel tech is a plus

Responsibilities

• Own the voice channel end to end, including telephony and CPaaS integrations
• Build features across the stack: React/TypeScript frontend, Scala/Python backend, and GCP infrastructure
• Design for multi-tenant scale with one codebase serving many partners
• Build safety and compliance plumbing (guardrails, content filtering, PII redaction)
• Maintain revenue-critical deployments with observability, alerts, incidents, and SLA performance
• Configure platform capabilities for partner telephony integrations and go-lives
• Raise engineering bar through code reviews, architecture reviews, and mentoring
