The Team:

Cookin (a CookUnity company) is revolutionizing the food industry by empowering food entrepreneurs to sell their creations online. We democratize access to tools that were previously only available to established restaurants, creating opportunities for culinary talent everywhere.

The Role:

We're launching an exciting new initiative - Cookin v2 - that builds on all the learnings from our first product iteration. This is essentially a new startup within our organization, and we're looking for an engineering leader who can function almost like a co-founder. Working within a small, agile pod with 1 product manager and design support, you'll be directly translating the vision set by our CPO into a market-ready product. This is a rare opportunity to shape a product from the ground up with the backing of an established company.

Responsibilities:

• Product Development: Build the full stack Cookin v2 product from the ground up, working closely with the lead PM, and the CTO and CPO where needed.
• Rapid Prototyping: Create functional prototypes using the latest tools and technologies to test concepts quickly in collaboration with product.
• Dealing with Ambiguity: Much like an early stage startup, dealing well with a high degree of ambiguity, making the best decisions given incomplete data, and speaking directly with customers to understand their needs will be essential to this role.
• Full Stack Engineering: The product will span mobile, web, and the backend, and some level of comfortability with all of them, or a willingness to learn rapidly, will be necessary for success.
• Stakeholder Management: Communicate effectively with executive leadership, including direct reporting to CPO, COO, CTO, and CEO.
• 3+ years of engineering experience in early-stage startup product development.
• 5+ years of full-stack engineering experience.
• Demonstrable experience with an opinionated tech stack that you can move fast with.
• Familiarity with DevOps best practices, or past experience supporting a production service as an engineer.
• Experience with modern development tools, APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
• Familiarity with the best in class AI tools & services.
• Track record of shipping products to production.
• Self-starter mentality with high autonomy and agency.
• Hands-on builder who's equally comfortable discussing user flows and database schemas.
• Thrive in ambiguity and can create structure in unstructured environments.
• Analytical thinking with creative problem-solving.
• Enthusiastic about leveraging cutting-edge technologies.
• Strong obsession with the craft of implementation.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and are willing to wear multiple hats.

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience in consumer technology products.
• Experience working with AI tools for development.
• Experience taking a product or project from 0 to 1 in a startup environment.
• Understanding of current trends in AI, particularly around image generation and foundational models.

Compensation

All final pay rates will be determined by candidates experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.

Pay Range for this position: $190,000 - $210,000 CAD
