Job summary

Tetra Digital Group is seeking a senior engineer for the Tetra Trust/CADD stack in Canada. You will own client-facing APIs, internal tooling, and the CAD stablecoin product surface, ensuring ledger integrity and secure, auditable systems.

You’ll work with a small, senior team and report to leadership in a fast, regulatory environment. Hybrid work in Toronto with exposure to on‑chain settlement, payments infrastructure, and banking integrations.

Who We Are

Tetra Digital Group is Canada's leading institutional digital asset infrastructure provider, and right now, we're at an inflection point five years in the making.

As Canada's first and only regulated digital asset custodian, we've built the institutional foundation the market now demands. We're backed by Urbana Corporation, National Bank, ATB Financial, Wealthsimple, Purpose Unlimited, Shakepay, Shopify, and Coinbase Ventures — some of the most consequential names in Canadian finance and fintech.

We operate two interconnected businesses: Tetra Trust, our regulated custody arm and CADD, a compliant on‑chain payment rail backed 1:1 by Canadian dollars.

In May 2026, we launched CADD — Canada's first CAD‑backed stablecoin issued by a regulated financial institution — following approval from Alberta Treasury Board and Finance. It's live on Base, Ethereum, and Tempo today, with Solana next. CoinDesk and BNN Bloomberg covered it as the arrival of Canada's first regulated digital dollar.

Here's the problem we're actually solving: Canada clears roughly $424 billion every business day, and much of the retail payment infrastructure underneath it was designed in the 1980s. Batch windows. Cut‑off times. Weekends off. We're the team replacing that with rails that settle continuously, programmatically, and under real regulatory oversight.

We're a team of under 30. The infrastructure we've built punches well above that number, and so does the opportunity ahead.

The Role

You’ll build the surfaces institutions actually touch.

That means the APIs a bank integrates against, the console our operations team uses to move real client assets, the mint‑and‑redeem flows behind CADD, and the reconciliation views that let a client's finance team prove their numbers to their own auditors. Less “growth dashboard,” more “this endpoint is load‑bearing.”

Here’s the part we’d rather say out loud than have you discover in week three: there is no undo button. A bad deploy at a social app means a bad afternoon. A bad deploy here means a client's assets moved when they shouldn’t have, or didn’t move when they should have — and the list of crypto companies that learned this lesson publicly is long, permanent, and easy to Google.

We’re not telling you that to scare you off. We’re telling you because the engineers who find that interesting rather than exhausting are exactly who we want. If you’ve ever cared more about a correct ledger than a clever abstraction, keep reading.

You’ll report to [Head of Engineering / CTO] and work alongside a small, senior team where nobody’s work is hidden behind three layers of process.

What You’ll Own

• Client-facing APIs and integrations. The interfaces banks, brokerages, asset managers, and payment companies build against. Designed once, versioned carefully, broken never.


• Internal operations tooling. The least glamorous, highest‑stakes software in the building. Our ops team uses it to authorize movements of real money. It needs to make the right action easy and the catastrophic action nearly impossible.


• CADD product surface. Mint, redeem, attestation reporting, and the partner‑facing tooling around Canada’s first bank‑issued CAD stablecoin.


• Correctness as a feature. Ledger integrity, idempotency, reconciliation, replay safety. You’ll write the tests that let all of us sleep.


• Audit‑ready by default. Institutional clients and provincial regulators ask hard questions about how things work. You’ll build systems that answer those questions without an archaeology project.


• On‑call, shared. You’ll be in the rotation with everyone else who touches production. We keep it humane and we staff it properly — see the note on fit.

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years shipping production software you were accountable for after launch — not just to launch


• Depth across the stack: strong [TypeScript/Node] on the backend, comfortable and competent in [React] on the frontend. We care that you can own a feature end to end, not that you love both halves equally.


• Serious relational data skills. Schema design, transactional integrity, and an instinct for where money‑handling code goes wrong


• API design judgment. You’ve built interfaces that external teams depended on and lived with the consequences of your choices


• Comfort in ambiguity. Specs here are often a conversation, a regulatory constraint, and a client deadline. You’re able to make a defensible call and move.


• Discretion and care. You’ll have access to systems that matter. We hire people who treat that seriously without needing to be told.

Crypto experience is a plus, not a requirement. If you’ve built payments, ledgers, brokerage, or banking infrastructure and you’re curious about on‑chain settlement, we’d rather teach you the chains than teach someone the discipline. Some of our strongest people came from traditional financial services.

Extra points for:

• Experience in a regulated environment (SOC 2, NI 31‑103, PCI, OSFI‑adjacent — any of it)


• You’ve worked on a double‑entry ledger and have opinions about it


• You’ve integrated with a blockchain node, an exchange API, or a bank’s payment rail and remember it fondly


• You’ve read a penetration test report about your own code and fixed things instead of arguing

A Note on Fit

Tetra moves fast and the expectations are high. We’re not a place that slows down to accommodate bureaucracy or process for its own sake. But we’re also not a place where “move fast and break things” applies — we’re a licensed trust company, and some things genuinely cannot break. Holding both of those at once is the actual skill.

Some honest specifics:

• You will be on call. We’re infrastructure for a 24/7 market. We share the rotation, and we’re hiring to make the rotation bigger rather than leaning on heroes.


• There is no big engineering org to hide inside. Under 30 people means your code is in front of clients quickly and your name is on it.


• Some of your work will be constrained by regulation, not by you. If external requirements feel like an insult to your architecture, this will be a frustrating job. If they feel like an interesting design constraint, you’ll do well here.


• We’re early enough that you’ll help decide things. Tooling, patterns, standards. Bring opinions.
