Manulife is seeking a Senior Full Stack Engineer to shape architectural decisions and deliver secure, scalable applications. You will own features end-to-end, collaborate across squads, and mentor peers while maintaining a strong focus on quality and engineering practices.
In this hybrid role, you’ll work from Waterloo, Ontario, contributing to business objectives with modern tech stacks including Java, TypeScript, React, and Azure. Emphasis on CI/CD, testing and secure, scalable design.
As a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you will help shape solutions, advance strategic initiatives, strengthen our technology footprint and champion strong engineering practices within your team.
You will deliver secure, reliable and user-centered solutions that support business objectives. You will translate technical and business requirements into incremental deliverables aligned with business and technology roadmaps.
As a senior member of the team, you will be accountable for outcomes, not only assigned tasks. You will lead medium-sized technical initiatives from end to end, set a high engineering standard within your squad and influence stakeholders beyond it. This role calls for strong technical judgment, initiative and a genuine interest in coaching others and improving engineering quality.
Experience designing application architecture at the component and service levels and contributing to architectural decisions beyond your own codebase.
Understanding of Agile and DevOps principles, with development practices that prioritize testing, continuous integration and the rapid, safe release of new features.
A strong foundation in data structures, algorithms and object-oriented design.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical vision, options and outcomes to varied audiences.
We’ll empower you to learn and grow the career you want.
We’ll recognize and support you in a flexible environment where well-being and inclusion are more than just words.
As part of our distributed team, we’ll support you in shaping the future you want to see.
The role being advertised is an existing vacancy.
