Job description

Express Scripts Canada is actively looking to hire a Senior Full Stack Developer. The successful candidate will work closely with the business to define how best to address business challenges faced by our customers and our internal operations. The Senior Developer will clarify functional requirements and non-functional requirements and develop effective designs and implementation approaches for the delivery of business applications. The Senior Developer will assure the quality of deliverables ensuring that developed products are fit for use, supportable and maintainable.

Work Location: Mississauga Head Office

Working Environment: Hybrid, a minimum of 2 days on-site in a week

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Work with Information Systems and Business to evaluate user requests, clarify objectives and functional requirements for new or modified computer programs. Assist in determining feasibility, time requirements, compatibility with current system and system capabilities.
2. Work with project team to formulate detailed program specifications using analysis and design methodology. Assist with definition and implementation of applications in a multi-platform distributed environment.
3. Write documentation describing program development, logic, coding, and corrections. May develop user manuals and operating procedures, provide research and follow-up on production problems, and train users and provide technical assistance to resolve application and operating issues.
4. Monitor ongoing performance of systems and develop updates or modifications according to business needs. Work with end users to provide production support including system setup, processing, and data extraction.
5. Provide off-hour support with on-call rotation.
6. Assist team with issues needing technical expertise. Provide on-the-job training for new or existing team members.
7. Work on special projects as assigned.
8. Code new or modified computer programs into existing systems and test effectiveness. Evaluate error messages, modify codes, and troubleshoot programming problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. 7-10 years of experience in Information Systems
2. Minimum 5 years of experience in developing J2EE applications, specifically in JAVA Web Services (SOAP & RESTFUL), Spring, Apache, IDE Tools (Netbeans or Eclipse), HTML, JavaScript
3. Knowledge of MS Office tools including MS Excel
4. Excellent written & communication skills
5. Strong customer focus, adaptable, flexible and willing to learn
6. Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field or equivalent work experience
7. Experience working with software development teams
8. Problem solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other departments to resolve complex issues with innovative solutions
9. Ability to communicate technical information concisely to non-technical personnel
10. Ability to prioritize workload and meet multiple project deadlines
11. Ability to adapt in a dynamic work environment and make decisions with assistance from senior staff
12. Strong facilitation and communication skills, including following standards and methodology
13. Willingness to work a flexible schedule to meet project deadlines

Technical skills required:

1. Programming: J2EE, JPA, JAVA Web Services (RESTFUL), Spring Framework
2. Knowledge of Jira, Confluence, GitHub
3. Databases: Relational Database Systems (ideally Oracle)
4. Operating Systems: Linux, HP-UX or Unix variant, MS Windows
5. Knowledge of programming concepts, design, procedures and practices
6. Familiarity with standard design patterns and UML

Nice to have skills:

1. Programming: FICO Blaze or other Business Rules Management Systems, PL/SQL, Maven, JReports, Angular
2. Familiarity with Application Containerization
3. Experience in Agile Methodology such as SCRUM
4. Experience/Knowledge of standards, structures and compliance to application standards and methodology
5. Experience in multi-platform distributed environment, web-based architectures and Microservices
6. Experience with CI/CD and testing automation (Selenium or similar)

Assets:

Familiarity with health care, financial or PBM industry
