Job summary

Equisoft, a global provider of digital insurance and investment solutions, is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Application Developer (Kotlin-Java/React) in Canada. You will join a 13-member team, design and build features for a cloud-native PAS product, and work in an Agile environment focused on innovation and collaboration.

You will contribute to the full software lifecycle, applying SOLID principles and modern web practices while growing with a dynamic, multicultural team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in computer engineering or IT.
• 8–10 years in a similar senior developer role.
• Excellent knowledge with Kotlin, Java or .Net and SQL.
• Experience with microservices, React or Angular, and JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Knowledge of GraphQL and REST APIs.
• Strong SOLID and OOP principles; experience with Agile/Kanban.
• Familiarity with DevOps Azure Pipeline and web security challenges.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate in an Agile team to design, develop and implement features of a Kotlin/Java/React web product.
• Write robust, efficient, and secure code aligned with analyses.
• Participate in feature analysis to meet business and technology needs.
• Review requirements, innovate, and refine with the team.
• Contribute to functional tests and documentation of current and future features.
• Ensure software quality and evolution in mid to long term.
• Troubleshoot and fix bugs; collaborate with teams to resolve client issues.

Role

The Senior Full-Stack Application Developer (Kotlin-Java/React), reports to the Director, Product Development. You will be working with a team of 13 members that include developers, QA, business analyst, PO and functional developer. The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing various features and components of a web-based product application built in Kotlin. If you would like to be part of a creative technical team focused on the best practices, innovation and collaboration as well as working in an agile and constantly evolving environment.

Product

Equisoft/Carbon is a cloud-native Policy Administration System (PAS) built for insurance carriers. The platform supports the full policy lifecycle, from underwriting and issuance to billing, claims, and commissions, across life, whole life, and annuity products for carriers around the world.

Your Day with Equisoft

• Collaborate in an Agile environment with a dynamic team of software developers, product owners and quality assurance specialists
• Write robust, efficient, and secure code in accordance with functional analyses
• Participate in the analysis of features that meet both business and technology solutions need
• Innovate, challenge and refine requirements based on technical assessment
• Actively participate in peer-review process and provide constructive feedback
• Participate in and collaborate to functional tests and documentation of actual and future features
• Ensure overall software quality and its evolution in the mid to long-term
• Ensure quality control through scenario testing to validate systems and programs developed comply with the technical specifications
• Write reliable code based on SOLID software engineering practices
• Fix bugs in a timely manner while working on solving more complex issues

Requirements

Technical

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or information technology or Equivalent College Degree
• 8 to 10 years of experience in a similar role
• Excellent knowledge and experience with programming language like Kotlin, Java or .Net
• Excellent knowledge with SQL
• Excellent knowledge of microservice architecture
• Good Knowledge and experience with React or Angular and JavaScript/TypeScript
• Knowledge of GraphQL and REST APIs
• Good knowledge of SOLID principles and OOP
• Knowledge of Agile and Kanban methodologies
• Knowledge in DevOps Azure Pipeline
• Knowledge of security challenges with web-based applications
• Experience in solving complex software engineering problems
