Job summary

Candu Energy Inc. is seeking a Senior Fuel Engineering Analyst to join the Fuel and Physics department, supporting the design of new nuclear power plants and the operation of existing CANDU reactors.

You will perform analyses related to fuel design, thermal-hydraulics, and safety, develop analysis codes, document results, and present findings to stakeholders while adhering to QA requirements and contributing to continuous improvement. Occasional travel to client sites is expected.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher from a university of recognized standing.
• 10 to 15 years of relevant experience or combination of experience and advanced education.
• Knowledge of thermal-fluid sciences (mechanical, fluid flow, heat transfers, multi-phase flow and thermodynamics).
• Advanced knowledge of the CANDU design, with emphasis on fuel design and operation, heat transport, plant control, containment and moderator systems.
• Proficiency in programming, especially Python or Fortran.
• Knowledge in developing finite element models and performing stress analysis.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
• Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible, i.e., able to perform varied work assignments effectively.
• Must be willing to travel occasionally to participate in meetings and workshops.

Responsibilities

• Present results to internal and/or external stakeholders.
• Collate, assimilate, and summarize results from existing analyses.
• Follow the relevant procedures, guidelines and standards governing the work being performed.
• Attend and participate in meetings at the office, remotely, or at client sites as needed.
• Continually improve skills through instructor-led courses and/or on-the-job training.

Your role:

• Advanced knowledge of the CANDU design, with particular emphasis on the fuel design and operation, heat transport system and plant control, containment and moderator systems.
• Proficiency in computer programming, especially python or Fortran.
• Knowledge in developing finite element models and performing stress analysis
• Excellent oral and written communication skills are required;
• Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible, i.e., must be able to perform varied work assignments effectively and respond quickly to changing project needs;
• Must be willing to travel occasionally to participate in meetings and workshops;
• Full commitment to working in a formal QA environment.
