Photonic is seeking a Senior Foundry Integration Engineer to lead the development and maturation of silicon photonic fabrication processes through close partnership with external commercial foundries.

In this highly cross‑functional role, you will own integration strategy, accelerate learning through structured experimentation, and help drive our technologies from development into stable, ramped production.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
• 3+ years of industry experience in process integration or semiconductor fabrication.
• Hands‑on experience with commercial semiconductor foundries.
• Strong understanding of process integration and cross‑module interactions in both foundry and university settings.
• Experience and intuition in silicon photonics fabrication and design.
• Demonstrated ability to design experiments, analyze data, and drive data‑informed technical decisions.
• Excellent communication skills across organizational boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute process integration plans across external commercial foundries to mature fabrication flows.
• Define, organize, and drive experiments to accelerate learning and drive product performance.
• Design experiments, analyze fabrication and measurement results, and synthesize data into clear technical conclusions.
• Define next step process improvements and development priorities based on experimental outcomes.
• Lead technical engagement with foundries, including aligning on integration intent, process assumptions, and learning objectives.
• Translate system level and device level requirements into actionable fabrication strategies.
• Collaborate closely with internal teams across nanofabrication, design, modeling, yield, and systems to produce chips supporting our core technology.
• Ultimately drive successful production ramp of chips through improved yield, reproducibility, and process robustness.

Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Foundry Integration Engineer to lead the development and maturation of our silicon photonic fabrication processes through close partnership with external commercial foundries. In this highly cross‑functional role, you will own integration strategy, accelerate learning through structured experimentation, and help drive our technologies from development into stable, ramped production.

In this role, you will work at the intersection of device physics, materials, and manufacturing—coordinating across internal design, modeling, and systems teams while serving as a key technical interface to our external foundry partners.

As a Senior Foundry Integration Engineer at Photonic you'll directly shape how quickly and reliably we learn, scale, and deliver. You will help establish development priorities, improve reproducibility, and enable scaling of Photonic’s quantum compute systems.

WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO

WHAT YOU BRING TO OUR TEAM

• Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
• 3+ years of industry experience in process integration, semiconductor fabrication, or related roles.
• Hands‑on experience working in or with a commercial semiconductor foundry.
• Strong understanding of semiconductor process integration, unit processes, and cross‑module interactions in both foundry and university cleanrooms.
• Experience and intuition in silicon photonics fabrication and design.
• Demonstrated ability to design experiments, analyze data, and drive data‑informed technical decisions.
• Excellent communication skills and comfort working across organizational and company boundaries.

An exceptional candidate will bring

• Experience supporting semiconductor technologies through development into production ramp.
• Familiarity with advanced photonic, electronic, or heterogeneous integration platforms.
• Prior experience serving as a technical interface between internal R&D teams and external manufacturing partners.
